The Greater The Consciousness, The More Changes Come On Their Own

The greater the consciousness, the more changes come alone

Living crises to the fullest is possible, says Jon Kabat-Zinn, promoter of mindfulness in the West.

According to him, if we increase our awareness, changes alone come into our life.

But this is not a vague and imprecise statement. This researcher has spent multiple years of his life devoting himself to scientifically highlighting something that human experience has long recognized: exploration, introspection, and deep connection help us generate lasting change.

According to what he says in an interview with the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, thanks to mindfulness or what we would call in French “full consciousness”, we manage to pay more attention to the present moment without judging, and in an active way .

Through the development of this ability, we are able to embrace the reality of things, which is healing and transformative on all levels, since it also causes neurological transformation.

Mindfulness doesn’t come from gurus

Even if this term sounds a bit flashy and alternative medicine, behind it lies a great amount of scientific, medical and psychological research which shows that this conjunction between Zen meditation and vipassana is extremely beneficial for us.

Specialized and licensed mindfulness professionals report on patients who successfully control chronic pain, anxiety, panic and other types of physical and mental pain.

We could say that full consciousness proposes to increase our consciousness to achieve a change of attitude, perspective and life.

These researchers do not tell us that we fall in love with life, but that we accept it and live it as it is.

It is an innovative approach because almost all of our Western medical disciplines are geared towards eliminating symptoms, relieving discomfort, destroying chaos and the need for normalcy.

Maintain the experience from the presence

At school, we are taught to think in order to solve, but mindfulness simply seeks to live experiences to achieve change or deepening of who we are and what is around us. .

The neurological changes behind the adapted mindfulness training occur in areas related to learning and memory, which are expanding. Concretely, the amygdala strengthens (remember that it is the sentinel of our emotions because it is responsible for reacting to threats and warning the rest of our brain).

In the interview cited by Kabat-Zinn, he claims that the results indicate a change in the genome of the trained people. Concretely, he outlines these discoveries:

  • The genes that have a link with inflammatory processes, and therefore cancer, are inhibited.
  • The density and size of the brain, which shrinks over the years, stops doing so if we meditate.
  • Neural connections are multiplying.

How do we get all of this through mindfulness? What is the truth of this method? There is no answer to this.

It’s just about stopping living asleep and starting to wake up. Without doing anything or trying to change, only by meditating and becoming more and more aware (something which, without a doubt, requires great discipline).

For example, if we have negative thoughts that lead us into a harmful spiral, we must prevent this from happening again.

Obviously, not everything is rosy in life, but we just need to raise our awareness to stop fueling this.

For a distracted mind is an unhappy mind. If we combine and unite all in one, we will achieve health, well-being and wisdom.

Because “the cultivation of full consciousness is a radical act of wisdom, love and compassion for oneself”.
