Letter To My Mother, For Her True Love

Letter to my mother, for her true love

Gustavo Adolfo Becquer

You don’t know how much I love you and I will love you.  Obviously, you should be able to imagine it because there is no one in this world who is able to love in such a huge way as you.

I am trying, I assure you, but I am not able to express everything that comes to my heart when I think of you.

You are a wonderful woman, you have a lot of degrees that you don’t brag about, and you are so strong that you can do anything before something sweeps away the happiness of those you love the most.

When I was little, I thought you were some kind of superheroine, a long time ago… But today, I’m completely convinced that I know who you are.

Graduated in love, at every moment you took care of my knee and heart wounds, healing all my pains with your kisses.

My nanny, my nurse, my confidante, my life teacher, my eternal friend… You always knew how to watch over me during my sleepless nights and how to respond to my concerns.

Someday you will tell me how you acquired this great skill, because being your daughter is a great privilege and I want my children to feel the same.

Although sometimes you feel downhearted, I can see in your eyes that the battles of everyday and life have never made you bow.

I also know that you will never give up because your courage and your strength have helped to move a family forward, it is an immense power.

Why am I so sure? For many reasons but, among others, because you have spent years forging swords and shields for the whole family with the hardest and purest of steels and now you have a great army that will always protect your heart.

Thanks to your love, I am not content with just anything, I always strive more and I know that I need to relearn to look at life like every sunset.

You sowed by example the most important values that I have today and that I will always keep : to love with all my heart, to have one hand to give and another to receive, to be humble and to feel myself proud of me and my family.

You fought through thick and thin, you calmed the most sinister storms and though you were hurt with my indifference and unconsciousness, I always had a little place of shelter halfway between your heart and your arms.

Thanks to you, I know that my achievements are mine and that my dreams have no expiration date.

And the smaller I felt, the more you snuggled me up against you, with your kisses to fill the void caused by despair.

Thank you for arming yourself with patience in order to show me my mistakes and for having this superhuman strength with which you always manage to unload my shoulders so that I do not suffer.

You are my greatest privilege and my greatest gift. You deserve everything because you gave me life and much more.

Because you learned to do it all with one hand, because you stayed awake until you heard me come home after a night of partying, because you gave me your piece of cake , because you learned the names of hundreds of dolls, because you had the patience to know me to know what I think and what I feel.

Thank you for being the master of my life, for having converted into my guardian angel, for making my sorrows lighter, for giving me your heart full of true love and for giving me the strength to achieve the impossible .
