Traveling Is More Than Sightseeing

Traveling is more than sightseeing

You like to travel ?

There are so many ways to travel as a person. Some like the city, others prefer open nature, some prefer museums and cathedrals and others risky sports.

It may be that during a trip we are looking for relaxation, to escape the stress of everyday life, or, on the contrary, adrenaline. Regardless of our preferences, the majority of people like to travel from time to time.

Changing air and discovering an environment different from ours is a pleasant activity that clears our mind and gives us the energy to get back to our routine.

If we think about it, traveling is even more than just a fun activity. In fact, when we travel we also take a journey inside of us. And in addition to enjoying, we learn.

Traveling is confronting your fears

We all have some deep-seated fears, big and small, that we need to overcome in order to travel.

Sometimes it can even be phobias. Indeed, the simple idea of breaking the routine, although pleasant, already supposes a physical imbalance which disrupts our body and affects our sleep, our eating habits, etc. But of course, we overcome it with pleasure!

Some have to overcome their fear of flying, others the fear of being far from their loved ones. Still others are afraid of getting lost on the trip or of not being able to make themselves understood by others in a foreign language.

The good thing is that traveling motivates us enough to decide to overcome our fears.

That’s why traveling isn’t just about sightseeing, it’s also about getting out of your comfort zone and growing up.

Traveling is overcoming prejudices

The more we travel, the more we discover cultures and customs different from our own.

In every corner of the world, there are particular habits that govern the way people act.

In some places we speak very loudly, while in others we hardly hear a word in restaurants.

People can be more distant or more sociable, the ways of greeting each other are different: to make two or three kisses – as in France – or to hug each other, as in the United States. The way of dressing is also changing, as are the hours and the cuisine.

No matter what you discover on your trip, what is certain is that when you travel you are aware that every part of the world is different. Each place is special and is part of the wealth of our planet.

The more we discover ways of being, the less prejudices we carry, because we are able to understand that each place is made up of distinct landscapes and different cultures, both of which are unique and which embellish this diverse planet.

Traveling is learning to adapt

Usually we all have a daily routine. When we travel, it changes, and everything changes: the schedules, the meals, the activities we do …

The human body is designed to adapt to habits, and this deviation from our routine is something to get used to.

The most obvious example is jet-lag, during very long trips. Indeed, jet lag and sleep cycle disorders tire us.

From the change of routine to the fact of agreeing with others, including the food or the hygienic and climatic conditions of the place in which we go; when traveling it is essential to be flexible and to know how to adapt.

At the end of the trip, when you look back, you will realize that the experience was worth it.

And if you’ve learned one thing, it’s good that you’re able to live in an environment different from your own, and that makes you bigger and more receptive to change.

To travel is to deepen the mystery

Do you remember when you were a kid and exploring your surroundings was an adventure? It could be the area around your neighborhood, or even a room you weren’t allowed to go to often.

Knowing every corner of it was quite an adventure. With the passage of the years, this feeling is gradually lost among the responsibilities and the routine.

This emotion of unraveling the mystery and discovering new things, you can find it while traveling; in the streets of a city you do not know or between the trees of a wood where you feel like you are alone.

Sometimes we get that feeling again in our stomachs that makes us think that we are the protagonists of our own adventure story.

To travel is to grow

To sum up, to travel is to tourism, to enjoy. But traveling is also testing yourself as a person, expanding your horizon, discovering yourself in different circumstances, knowing your limits and realizing that we can overcome them and get out of our comfort zone.
